chase ealey: strength, style, and breaking records
In a sport traditionally dominated by rigid notions of masculinity, two-time world shot put champion Chase Ealey is bringing a much-needed reminder that strong is beautiful.
Faced with the physical and mental challenges of 2 severe spats of COVID-19, Ealey almost retired in 2021. However, with the support of her team, she rebuilt her technique and mental approach, leading to unprecedented success. In 2022, Ealey came back to win two world championships and set the American women's shot put record.
As she prepares for the 2024 Paris Olympics, we wanted to highlight Ealey as a symbol of perseverance and evolving beauty in athletics

little things of joy
Most produce in the U.S. travels about 1,500 miles before reaching consumers, but Detroit's North End residents get theirs from just a few blocks away. The Michigan Urban Farming Initiative (MUFI), started a decade ago by University of Michigan students, has transformed a two-block area into a thriving urban farm aimed at reducing food insecurity.
MUFI, the nation's first sustainable urban agrihood, has engaged over 10,000 volunteers who have contributed more than 100,000 hours of service. The farm has produced over 50,000 pounds of produce, distributed to more than 2,000 local households, churches, and food pantries on a pay-what-you-can basis.
Do you think urban farming is an effective solution to food insecurity and food deserts? Or a new way for real estate investors to conceal gentrification? Join the discussion in the humanoid discord.

identity in the limelight: willow smith's unveiling of self through art
Like many people transitioning from childhood to adulthood, Willow Smith has embarked on a journey of self-understanding and healing. What sets Willow apart is that she has had to navigate the challenge of discovering her authentic identity while simultaneously facing the public spotlight inherited from her parents. Her journey through adolescence has been vividly documented in her music, evolving from the carefree anthem “Whip My Hair” to her latest album, empathogen, which delves into taking responsibility for one’s own experience and recognizing that life is full of beautiful moments—if the teenage angst can be subdued long enough to notice them. Now, her odyssey of self-discovery and expressive creativity has reached a new milestone with her debut novel, "Black Shield Maiden.”
This historical epic, set in the Viking era, centers on Yafeu, an African warrior who navigates a new life in a northern kingdom. This novel embodies Willow's distinctive, fully matured voice and her dedication to inspiring self-determination and courageous expression.
