deepdive colorpot
Vivid, deep color that dries in a flash
Use it on your face. Use it on your body. Whatever and wherever you want, deepdive gives you brilliant color coverage with a single stroke.* The unique color formula reads on all skin tones — meaning all eight deepdive colors show up on everyone. The quick dry time has your look done in seconds, while zero-transfer and waterproof qualities keep that look on you all day. Even if you took a literal swim. Go ahead, we dare you.
*While still bright and beautiful, quartz works best when used as highlighter.
All inaugural humanoid color shades are inspired by the nature of the city we call home, Los Angeles. As the world’s largest wildlands within a metropolis, creative sparks are never far. From the accidental beauty in urban sprawl to the abundant animal and plant life that peppers the coastlines, mountain tops and deserts of southern California’s mecca — our first colorway pays homage to the majestic wilderness of the city of angels.
benitoite
Like the water it was discovered near, benitoite plays with light. The mineral complexities in this rare California gem range from a deep, profound and poetic blue to an ethereal, light-blue fairy dust or even a soothing shade of violet.
We love the strength the color emits. Blue is one of the most calming colors of the natural world, but benitoite gives it something extra. It has an air of mystery, of the cosmic. We wanted to honor that inner depth and outer intrigue. Magic and mysticism? Yes, please.
sagebrush
Sagebrush (aka ~Artemisia californica~) is a California evergreen. Constantly flowering. It loves full sun, a bit of coastal air and even being on a bit of a slant. Living in its west coast truth. Praise be.
Cruising Highway 1, many people admire the water. But look east and you’ll find this sagebrush running rampant on the Pacific cliffs. It’s dusty, muted blanket contrasts the vibrant water. Sagebrush is thriving with life, but never showing off. It’s not a “pick me” kind of vibe. Main character energy without any song and dance. Quietly persistent. An inspiration for what we want to feel like some days.
matilija
A big boss dog. Coulter’s Matilija has the largest flowers of any California native plant. With each of its six, chiffon-like petals stretching to 10cm in length, this blossom is not afraid to flaunt its beauty.
The Matilija is sometimes referred to as a ‘fire follower.’ Like a phoenix, it is known to rise suddenly in areas recently burned. The large white petals emerge from destruction. Bringing a burst of beauty to decimated land. Nature knows to bring hope. We want to, too.
quartz
California is, quite literally, littered with quartz. It’s here. It’s there. It’s everywhere. Find it in streams or the desert or as perfectly preserved petrified wood. Quartz is a giver and we’re inspired by its gifts.
Once a California rain showers down, the gems glisten from the mix of water and dust. Little specks along the earth sparkle and glimmer from the purity of ancient minerals. A phenomenon of iridescence. (← New bio for your dating profile?)
eventide
The sunset is one of LA’s most famous celebrities. A mix of smog and sky and ocean breeze and heat haze and the emissions of a big city — the descending light becomes refracted in a way singular to this city.
Ochre strands blend with golden rays and wisps of bright vermillion. Like an African savannah to the tune of an endless summer. LA sunsets aren’t possible without the particular modern concoction of humans and nature. They just aren’t. They’re humanoid in that way. This sacred time of day, with this wash of colors, is called eventide. And we want you to have it.
aeonium
A beautiful display of masculine, feminine and everything in between. Growing in bunches, this aeonium is like a bouquet of freckles — speckled all along the California coast. A harmony of possibilities. Black Aeonium is strong and sturdy, beautiful and deep. It looks like it would be as at home in the desert as it would on the ocean floor. Content in itself. Sustaining itself. Tolerant and graceful. Your body deserves to channel that.
corvid
First things first, this color has no relation to a virus. We promise. It’s actually the term to identify a bird of the crow family.
Throughout LA, but especially in the winter, crows swarm. They form hefty black clouds of feathers reflecting the sun. They’re social, and they’re noisy — so they fit right in. But they’re also smart and crafty, perched all across America. But we wanted to capture that particular deep, glowing onyx of the ubiquitous crow’s sheen in the late LA light.
woolly bluecurls
A name befitting a 70s hair band, this plant is native to southern california and sports beautiful, velvety flowers. The flowers gracefully frame green stems like wax on a candelabra but raise to the sky in springtime.
Their vibrant, lavender petals have deep blue hues at their base. The vibrancy of the flower draws bees, hummingbirds, and butterflies — other creatures of beauty — to come hang out. Wearing our woolly bluecurls, hopefully other creatures of beauty flock to you, too.
If you want a clean, solid look, one layer is all you need. But also try blending it out with your fingers for a gradient effect. It works phenomenally well with both our dott and stencil hacktools. Just a note: quartz is a highlighter and intended to be applied in a sheer layer.
